Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!

After the forced break we had to take in the middle of the Beer-Sheva Startup weekend event, we are happy to announce that we are back to finish the great event!

On December 6-7 (Thursday-Friday) at 8:30 we will join forces again in “Tapuach” Center which is located in the corner of Juda HaLevi and Shaul Hamelech Streets, in Beer-Sheva.

Start weekend – what is it? A quick reminder

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Startup Weekend, it is a 54-hour Hackathon that is being held in over hundreds of different cities throughout the world. In Israel, we usually start it on Wednesday and finish on Friday. In the beginning of each event, every entrepreneur gets to pitch his idea in front of all the other entrepreneurs, and after a short voting process, the audience picks the best ideas of the bunch and all the entrepreneurs divide themselves into teams and start a 50-hours Hackathon in order to make their project into something real.

Beyond great good, drinks and an awesome T-Shirt, The experience includes mentoring from dozens of experienced entrepreneurs who share with us their road to success, failure and life stories. At the end of each event, each one of teams should present their project in front of an expert judge’s panel and the first place winner would get a services package worth thousands of dollars, just to help them make their project into a real-life kicking-ass startup.

We have great support from the local scene!

We are planning to continue with over 100 entrepreneurs, developers, designers and mentors who signed up for the event and the awesome support from local municipal authorities such as the city of Beer-Sheva, the municipal business development company “7×7” (7 is Sheva in Hebrew) and the ministry for the Negev development alongside with huge support from the industry by companies : EMC (That has its own innovation center in Beer-Sheva), Sandisk, Incubit, APM Law Firm, NegevCo., Gav-Yam (A company that is in charge of building Beer-Sheva’s Hi-Tech Park), Ness Technologies, Paris Region, WMG and Negev Jobs.

Following them, the local universities and colleges will again join us in and together we will do our best to have a winning products.

If you have more friends who want to join the teams on the second and third days, just send them to the registration page, where they can find a discounted ticket.
